Most of the features of this Riddell model have been retained, all the way to the present day. Helmets with light silver sides and triple-color center stripes. A one inch scarlet stripe crowned this helmet, with half inch white and black side stripes. External padding was being phased out, but Jim Otis and a handful of other players kept their older helmets. A great tradition also began in 1968, the awarding of Buckeye Leaf stickers on the right side of the helmet.
